Justice League Panel:
During their panel in Hall H and San Diego Comic Con on Saturday, Warner Brothers and DC Films publicly unveiled the first footage for 2017’s Justice League film.
In June, Warner Brothers unveiled footage to a small group of press on the London set of Justice League. That scene starts out with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen heading into his apartment. It’s dark and seems to be part of what looks like a warehouse. It’s unconventional – high ceilings, looks old, and is powered by a circuit breaker when Barry arrives to flip its switch. When that switch is flipped, dozens of lights and TV screens hanging from the ceiling are turned on. More importantly, Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne is sitting in Barry’s apartment waiting for him.
“Barry Allen… Bruce Wayne,” Bruce says to a stunned Barry. “You say that is if it’s normal to have a complete stranger sitting in my second favorite chair,” Barry responds to several laughs from the select press members watching. Bruce quickly reveals a print out of a screenshot from the convenience store surveillance footage which served as one of The Flash’s cameos in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Bruce questions Barry about what he’s doing in the moments caught on camera, but Barry insists, comedically, that is someone who looks exactly like him but is definitely not him – just an “attractive Jewish boy.”
Bruce is obviously not convinced, as he throws a Batarang at Barry, also throwing the scene into slow motion with a couple flashes of light and wind accompanying the scene. Barry steps to the side, looking at the Batarang which would have otherwise hit him in the face, and realizes Bruce Wayne is Batman. He catches it (the Batarang was not added into this part of the scene yet so Miller merely performed the motion of catching it) and looks back to Bruce. Time reverts to normal speed and Barry tells Bruce, “You’re the Batman,” to which Bruce responds, “And you’re fast.” Another comedic dime rolls out when Barry tells Bruce he thinks that way of thinking is an “over-simplification.”
Bruce reveals to Barry that he’s recruiting people like him and Barry signs up immediately, with zero hesitation. After a pause, he tells Bruce he “needs friends” and asks to keep the Batarang.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, this marks the big screen debut of the Justice League, featuring an all-star lineup: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.
Justice League is set for release November 17, 2017.
Warner Bros. debuted the first trailer for next year’s Wonder Woman movie during its massive Hall H panel here at San Diego Comic-Con. Director Patty Jenkins took the stage to talk about the film, and how important Wonder Woman is as a character and as a superhero. And that much is clear in the trailer, as she’s every bit as regal and dangerous as her comic book counterpart.
Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot, follows Princess Diana of Themyscira as she joins the fight for global peace during World War I. Jenkins described Gadot as perfect for the role, proclaiming, “Gal Gadot is Wonder Woman.” And… well, yeah! Gadot is joined by Chris Pine, who plays Steve Trevor, Diana’s lover during the conflict. Wonder Woman hits theaters next summer.
- Well, it looks like we are almost definitely going to get a Wonder Woman trailer sometime today because we’ve just received word that the trailer for the Patty Jenkins-directed film has officially been classified!
You wanted fireworks and Warner Bros. is about to deliver.
The British Board of Film Classification has just released a classification for the Wonder Woman Comic-Con trailer, which they say will run approximately 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Director Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, and Connie Nielson will be on hand at today’s Warner Bros. panel where they will likely debut the highly anticipated first look.
We don’t have too many details regarding what other surprises WB may have in store for fans today, but what we do know is that brand new trailers for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Kong: Skull Island, The Lego Batman Movie, and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them are also all expected to debut during the two-hour event. As for what else to expect from the DC portion of their panel, the entire cast of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is slated to appear and there are unconfirmed rumblings this morning that Justice League stars Henry Cavill (Superman) & Jason Momoa (Aquaman) were spotted leaving London late last night for an unknown destination… which could potentially mean very big things are on the way.
So, what do you guys think? Sound off with your thoughts below!
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
