Chris Pine has appeared as a charming prince in 2014’s “Into the Woods,” the USS Enterprise Captain James T. Kirk in J. J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” film series, a U.S. Marine in 2014’s “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit,” and the dashing agent Franklin Foster in “This Means War.” While the 35-year-old actor is set to reprise his “Star Trek role next year, he’s also pat of the highly anticipated “Wonder Woman,” which stars Gal Gadot as the titular character.

People reports that Pine recently spoke to Total Film about his excitement to be part of the 2017 film and play the role of Steve Trevor, the primary love interest of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman.

“It’ll be a f—— blast,” the actor said. “I couldn’t be happier to be supporting Gal [Gadot] in what’s going to be the first female-driven superhero film.”
The actor added, “I think in the world today we’ve had plenty enough of male-driven everything. It’s finally time to see how wonderful the world can be with beautiful, strong intelligent women kicking some major ass.”

The Wrap reported in July that Pine had signed a multi-picture deal, which means fans will be seeing more of him as Steve Trevor. Back in November, Games Radar reported that Comic Zeroes tweeted the first photo of Pine as Steve Trevor on the set of “Wonder Woman.”

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will be making her debut earlier than her solo film, though, as she is set to appear in next year’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. Director Zack Snyder told Entertainment Weekly back in July that “[Wonder Woman] plays a super-important part [in Dawn of Justice]. In a lot of ways, she’s the gateway drug to the rest of the Justice League.”
Back in October, Gadot spoke with Cosmic Book News to share her excitement about donning the Wonder Woman costume for the first time for “Dawn of Justice”. She said, “It was crazy! You don’t do fittings together. You do them separately. But the first time they shot the trio, it was almost magical.”

“On the one hand, when you think about it realistically, it’s kind of weird to stand there, all three of us as superheroes,” the 30-year-old actress recalled. “And then, when we started to shoot, Ben became Batman, Henry became Superman, and I became Wonder Woman. I can’t even express in words how excited I was.”
Gadot added that she is very excited for the upcoming solo “Wonder Woman” film, saying, “The Wonder Woman is a story that needs to be told. I’m so happy it’s me to tell that story. I think there is no better time than now, and it’s about time we should this amazing heroine on the big screen.”

“Wonder Woman” debuts in theaters on June 23, 2017.
