Warner Bros. has previously announced that DC Comics’ iconic character “Wonder Woman” is having its very own live action movie adaptation featuring Gal Gadot during the presentation for investors.

However, “Breaking Bad” director Michelle MacLaren, who was tapped to helm the project, revealed that there has yet a script, a release date or a green light for the project during her recent interview with Vulture.

“I really, really, really can’t talk about this,” MacLaren said trying to avoid the topic. “I just picture a drone coming in over the hills and crashing through the glass and flying over here and putting duct tape over my mouth, you know?”

While this may worry fans of the Amazonian princess, Movie Pilot reports that Warner Bros. has hired six writers to pen six different versions of the upcoming “Wonder Woman” live action movie in addition to “Pan” scribe Jason Fuchs.

It only goes to show that the studio company is putting all its efforts in bringing Diana of Themyscir to the big screen.

In addition, Variety has previously confirmed that Gal Gadot has signed on a three-movie deal with Warner Bros. as “Wonder Woman,” the first of which is her appearance in the upcoming “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” film.

And while there hasn’t been a concrete plot for the upcoming movie adaptation word has it that the origin story of “Wonder Woman” will be featured in “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice” a story which could possibly be explored in the standalone film.

With DC Comics building their own Cinematic Universe, it has been announced that Game of Thrones‘ Michelle MacLaren will direct the forthcoming big screen adaptation of Wonder Woman, ending months of speculation.

Starring Gal Gadot, the eagerly awaited adaptation of the iconic supperhero will be developed by MacLaren alongside Producers Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Debbie Snyder and Richard Suckle.

MacLaren’s previous works include the aforementioned Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and The X-Files, and it is believed that the veteran director had taken several meetings with the studio earlier this month.

Little is known about the first solo outing for Diana aka Wonder Woman, but the film is expected in cinemas on June 23 2017, following Gadot’s debut as the character in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 23 2016.

We’ve got word as to who may actually direct the movie: Breaking Bad executive-producer/director Michelle MacLaren. Variety reports that MacLaren is “in talks” to take on the Wonder Woman film, which Charles Roven will produce for a June 23, 2017, release.

Little is known about the plot of the Wonder Woman movie, though the character will first appear in Dawn of Justice when it hits in March 2016.

MacLaren can be considered Breaking Bad’s “main” director. As our own Eric Goldman points out, she helmed 11 of the show’s 62 episodes — more than any other director. She was eventually made an executive producer on the show and oversaw the editing with Vince Gilligan on the entire final season. The third season episode “One Minute” in particular brought her to the attention of many fans. She’s also directed four episodes of Game of Thrones, three for The Walking Dead, and a bunch for other series (including an X-Files, which she also was a producer for!), but Wonder Woman will mark her big-screen helming debut if she signs on with the studio.

Warner Bros. have already made an offer to a female director for the Wonder Woman movie, we just don’t know who…

The Wonder Woman movie is going to be here on June 23rd, 2017. It has a star in Gal Gadot. It may or may not have a writer. If it does, they’re keeping him or her quiet. And it certainly doesn’t have a director…yet.

We know that Warner Bros. is looking to find the right woman to direct the debut cinematic outing of one of DC’s most important characters. We can cross one name off that list: Punisher: War Zone director Lexi Alexander. “I can’t say they wouldn’t consider me, but they haven’t reached out,” she told Forbes. But Ms. Alexander did say that Warner Bros. have made an offer to somebody (she doesn’t say who), and “If she says yes, everybody will be very happy, including me.”

She expressed some caution, though, about attaching a female director to a movie like Wonder Woman, which comes with all manner of marketing and studio considerations and expectations. “How many male superhero movies fail? So now, we finally get Wonder Woman with a female director, imagine if it fails,” she told Fast Company. “And you have no control over marketing, over budget. So without any control, you carry the fucking weight of gender equality for both characters and women directors. No way.”

Both of those interviews with Lexi Alexander that we linked up above are well worth reading, by the way.

Anyone want to place their bets on Kathryn Bigelow as Wonder Woman director?

Jess / November 8th, 2014   Magazine Alert

We have  added a scan from Total Film October 2014 that features Gal as Wonder Woman. Total Film published an article called “The Dawn of DC” about the heroes of the DC universe, and brought an analytical study of the roles that each of these characters could play in the superhero team which will be presented to us in the Justice League movie. Also more filming took place this weekend in Chicago’s Loop as will be closed for filming. We are not sure if Gal will be there but do send in any photos if she is!

Looks like the eagerly-awaited first trailer of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be revealed in December, 2014.

“The overt hint I got from these folks is that the teaser will be revealed this Fall along with a November or December film release. I have no idea to which specific film it may be ‘attached,’ but New Line’s (which is Warner Bros.’ sister company) The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies is being released on December 17, 2014,” states the website.
