Warner Bros. may be searching for a female director to helm Gal Gadot’s solo Wonder Woman debut. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is looking for director a female visionary for the film, which is slated to hit theaters on 2017. Forbes film blogger Mark Hughes (via ComicBookMovie) published a list of female directors allegedly in the running for the gig.

“This list includes Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight), Mimi Leder (Deep Impact), Karyn Kusama (Girlfight), and Julie Taymor, the woman responsible for the disaterous Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark,” ComicBookMovie reports. “However, she has found acclaim for her work on The Tempest and others. Also being considered are TV directors Michelle MacLaren (Game of Thrones) and Tricia Brook (The Walking Dead).”
Gadot will make her first appearance as Wonder Woman in “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.” The production hasn’t released many details regarding her character, but former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter has shared her vision for the new Diana Prince with Vulture.

“Wonder Woman is about a lot more than just superhero stuff. She’s complicated,” Carter said. “Ultimately, she’s about truth, and it’s all heart with her. She’s a strong female force.”
She added, “I think females baffle men, and so, that’s made it difficult to get a Wonder Woman movie made. She’s strong, but she’s so much more — not everybody gets that … Most important, I want her to have a heart and a strong sense of humor.”

Gadot’s “Batman vs. Superman” costar Ben Affleck also dropped a major hit for fans who are interested in director Zack Snyder’s vision for the film. Affleck told MTV News back in September there is a specifc DC comic series Snyder turned to for inspiration.

“I will say that I think Zack was heavily influenced by that [‘Dark Knight Returns’],” Affleck told MTV. “I think everyone’s heavily influenced by that. It’s the seminal work, right? I don’t think there’s any of these [Batman movies] that have been made without drawing from that book because it’s so good. And I think if you’re smart, you steal from the best.”

“Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is slated to hit theaters on March 25, 2016
